SIMILAN ISLANDS, THAILAND

As I stepped off the boat I almost tripped and feel face first into the sand! I was totally in awe of the sight in which surrounded us; here I was in the middle of the ocean stepping upon one of the most breathtaking islands I had ever seen! The water was crystal clear, and the lightest blue I had ever seen! Their where boats in the bay, people snorkelling and other posing for photos! The sand was pure white and the trees where so lush and green, despite the heat of being almost 42 degrees and it only being 11:30am.

I had spent most of the morning in and out of consciousness I was overly tied and because we had an early wake up call at around 5:30am. We were picked up by the local tour companies drivers in a small mini van (thank gosh it was air-conditioned) and driven two hours up north to a little port called Tab Lamu Pier in Phang Nga. Here we were severed a nice continental breakfast and checked in for our day tour to some of the most famous little islands in Thailand! The similan Islands!

Now the similan islands are known widely to locals and the tourists that travel here because of its untouched and breathtaking islands, they are numbered 1 to 9 but only islands 4 to 9 are accessible to the public as the other islands are turtle conservation areas and are protected. The similan islands are so beautiful that it means a lot of people want to visit, and due to the islands being closed in rainy season (May – September) this means the islands can become extremely busy leaving you with no option but to take a photo and have a million people in it! No matter what angle, position, place or viewpoint you go to!

Now don’t be scared off by the crowds! Because there are so many tour operators running to the similan islands it means your bound to find an extremely good price! The tours generally go for around 3,500 baht for an adult and 2,500 for a child –but remember you’re in Thailand! So bargain, bargain, bargain! We walked along the shops and ask as many tour operators as we could find and got a rough price, it ended up after bargaining one operator down we scored a full day tour with breakfast, lunch and a light dinner for only 3,700 for TWO adults! Just be sure to shop around, and you will find a good deal for you and your family!

The similan islands are so stunning to look at, but it’s the snorkelling, which is the killer point here! You here about the say trips to the classic James bond island, and the phi phi islands – these are great day trips! They are close to Phuket, where most tourists stay, and they are a lot cheaper and not as big as day! but if you are visiting Thailand between the months of October – may you MUST go visit the similan islands! Here their snorkelling is INCREDIBLE! The water is CRYSTAL clear and just stunning!!!

I had such an amazing day, despite the busy atmosphere, the water itself and the islands are just gorgeous, and unlike any other place I have visited!
